Coastal Art Group
Beadnell & Seahouses North Northumberland Group Meetings weekly Monday 7 - 9pm at Seahouses First School Main Street, Seahouses and/or Thursday 10am - noon at WI Hall in Meadow Lane Beadnell There is no annual subscription. There is no tuition but you can often learn more by talking to others in a similar predicament, than you can from ‘being taught’ Contact: Phil Russell Dipl Arch (Manc), MSAI, RSC, PA. at Ivy Cottage Studio Chathill NE67 5DE Tel/Fax 01665 589 395 E-mail patphilchathill@hotmail.com www.philrussell.org The group was formed in 2000 by Phil as Regional Society Co-ordinator [RSC} with the Society for all Artists [SAA] with about 25 aspiring painters, some wanting to meet in the daytime and some at night depending on their work commitments. Two locations were found with good lighting, free parking, coffee making facilities and water, at the right hourly rate of rental. No one wanted a formal constitution or to have titles allocated. As co-ordinator and benevolent dictator of these groups I have an honesty box for the £2 per meeting charge which covers the outgoings. The SAA insurance for meetings and exhibitions, together with its materials and video shopping bulletins, its exhibitions and exhortation to inspire, is useful in pointing at other clubs activities, exhibitions and list of demonstrators of Professional Assistants [PA} When asked, demonstrations are arranged, usually at a weekend and with the aid of the Seahouses First School equipment, this can throw these open to a larger audience by using the digital video projector and camera. Our meetings are open to ALL including youngsters, and visitors to this gorgeous coastal area. They often pop in and have a brotherly or sisterly paint with us. The group holds its exhibition in the two weeks after the Easter school holiday and this is followed by an exhibition of the childrens’ work, often inspired by our group efforts. The header picture of Beadnell Beach, Kilns and Harbour is eight ft by four and all the members and some of the WI members produced and directed it. Come along and paint something you are really interested in and bring your friends and youngsters. A small charge of £2 per session covers the cost of hiring the rooms, and drinks and biscuits.
